Project

East Oakland: Front lawn be gone!

The owners of this Millsmont art deco bungalow wanted to reduce their water use and frequently walked across the brown lawn between their driveway and front entry. Using reclaimed materials we created a pathway and bench, and added low maintenance, drought-tolerant plantings in a berm. The result is an intimate garden space feeling protected from the street, but still open and welcoming for easy neighborhood socializing.
